Meditative WEEDING Practice
We are starting a project to eliminate a highly invasive weed from Jikoji grounds. The plant, known as "Stinky Bob", Herb Robert, or Geranium robertianum, is native to Eurasia and North Africa.
However, in California, Oregon, and Washington, it spreads, blanketing the ground and disrupting the many interconnections of evolved life in our wild native environs and the lovely Jikoji landscaping.
We have a good chance of thoroughly removing these plants from selected focal areas this year. BEFORE THEY GO TO SEED! Also, because they have not yet gone to seed, we can simply compost them.
Stinky Bob plants are currently young, easy to identify, and really easy to remove.
We look forward to monthly mindful weeding sessions for the next few months and an excellent result for nature. April 19, May 17, June 14, July 19.
You may want to wear thin gardening gloves (or bare hands), knee pads, a small stool, or something similar if you prefer to kneel while weeding, a water bottle, and a sun hat (though this plant prefers light shade).
Work sessions will be from 9 to 12, with a bring-your-own lunch break, and then 1 to 3.
Come for the full or partial day as your schedule allows.
