Donen McWilliams Art Opening & Potluck Dinner

Please join us for an evening of community, creativity, and good food at Jikoji Zen Center.

On Saturday, July 18, we will host a potluck supper and art opening featuring the work of sangha friend, Donen McWilliams. Come enjoy an inspiring collection of artwork, share a meal with friends old and new, and spend a relaxed summer evening in the beauty of Jikoji temple.

Please bring a vegetarian dish to share. Everyone is welcome.

John Donen McWilliams, known as “Mac”, has been a professional artist for most of his life and a Zen practitioner for 45 plus years.

He has a BFA and an MA in Painting & Drawing, and has taught art and shown his art on both the east and west coast. He was a Propmaster in movies & TV; worked in museums as Curator and Preparator; was a Cartographer and Draftsman; and owned and operated an old and rare book store in the Cannery Row district of Monterey.

He first sat at Ka Shin Zendo in Washington, D.C. with Norman Hoenberg, Zenji. In '84, he moved to L.A. and lived at the Zen Center of Los Angeles, studying with Taizan Maezumi Roshi. He served as Tenzo for Sesshins and sat Angos at their mountain center, Yokoji, as well as at their city center. Since the early 90s, he has attended Jokoji.
